On official ceremony today held in Grand hotel Sofia Galina Todorova and Kapka Kostova shared the prize "Lawyer of the year" for their protest against the career policy of the Supreme judicial council and the appointment of Vladimira Yaneva. In the other category judge Maya Tsoneva from the Sofia Appellate court was awarded by Legal world because of her verdict against the Galevi brothers and her undisputed contribution to fighting corruption and organised crime.
The annual award is in two categories this year: nominations by the judicial reporters and nominations by Legal world magazine. Тhe Bulgarian institute for legal initiatives received three nominations by the judicial reporters. The first one was received for the project on transperant judicial appointments and the publishing of detailed profiles of the candidates for senior positions in the judiciary. The other two nominations were granted to its director Bilyana Gyaurova and Hristo Ivanov.
