At its session today the Supreme Judicial Council elected Evgeni Dikov new director of the National Investigative Service. Twenty-four of the Council members voted, 23 votes were “in favor” of his candidacy, no one was against. Mr. Dikov was proposed by the Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov and members of the SJC.
Evgeni Dikov, who was acting Sofia City Prosecutor, was the only candidate for the position. The election took place due to the previous director’s resignation in November.
The head of the National Investigative Service also functions as a Deputy Chief Prosecutor. Evgeni Dikov has over 30 years of legal experience. He has worked as a deputy district attorney, and district attorney of Sofia, a Sofia City Prosecutor, as well as in the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. Dikov was also an investigator in the National Investigative Service.
